Jan 2009 - Rotary Club: Troop Support
The Rotary Club took boxed lunches to the 20th Airborne Brigades' 37th Engineer Battalion from Fort Bragg, NC and enjoyed fellowship with the soldiers while they took a short lunch break. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the soldiers have teamed up to rebuild the gate attendant houses at four park entrances to Kerr Lake. Rotarians also handed out a number of phone cards to the soldiers who are very appreciative of the support, kindness and the wonderful meals they have received while in the community.

   Feb 3, 2009 - American Legion Post 79: Troop Support
The American Legion Post 79 hosted a steak dinner for 19 visiting soldiers from the U.S. Army's 20th Airborne Engineer Brigade's Paratroopers Battalion from Fort Bragg, NC. While attending the dinner, 17 out of the 19 soldiers joined the American Legion. An anonymous member of the Post paid their dues for the next two years. A swearing in ceremony was held, and each new member was given his American Legion Card and Lapel Pin.
