Town Hall

The South Hill Town Hall is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Customers seeking assistance with business license or code compliance matters should enter through the rear lobby. Those who are only making payments also have the option of using the night deposit box or paying online at https://www.southhillva.org/town-of-sh/bill-payment. If you have questions, please call 434/447-3191 or email us during regular business hours.


2023 CCR

The Annual Consumer Confidence Drinking Water Report is designed to inform you about your drinking water quality. We are pleased to report that the Town of South Hill’s water system had no violations and that your water meets all Federal and State drinking water standards. For a copy of the report in pdf form, please visit the Town website at https://www.southhillva.org/images/documents/2023_CCR.pdf.

2024 General Election for Local Offices

The terms of our Mayor (At Large) and four Town Council members (three Ward 3 and one Ward 1) will expire December 31 of this year.
 
Town elections will be held November 5, 2024. Interested candidates should note the filing period ends June 18, 2024 at 7 PM.
 
If you are considering running for the South Hill Town Council, quick links are provided below to the Virginia Department of Elections website.

Fuel IFB

The Town of South Hill will be receiving sealed bids for the purchase of fuel. Quotations shall be based on a variable cost per gallon above “rack price”. Fuel provider must have two locations within the Town of South Hill, VA from where the Town could access the fuel.
 
Bids will be accepted until 11:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the South Hill Town Hall, 211 S. Mecklenburg Ave., South Hill, VA 23970.
 
The contract term is the 2024-25 fiscal year.

MCHS Bingo for Beta




VIN Etching


Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Etching is one of the most effective means to deter auto theft that is currently available. Join the South Hill Police Department on May 8 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the South Hill Walmart. Please bring your driver's license and vehicle registration to this FREE event.



STEM Summer Camps

Two weeks of STEM Summer Camp will be held during the weeks of June 3-7 and June 10-14:
  • Elementary Stem Camp - Rising 4th and 5th graders. Location: LaCrosse or Clarksville Elementary.
  • Middle School Stem Camp - Rising 5th and 6th graders. Location: Mecklenburg Middle School.
Students must have an A or B average in Math and Science and no discipline referrals this school year to attend. To sign up and for more information follow this link to the application https://mcpsweb.org/?page_id=172220.  This camp is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Colonial Center 2024 Workshop Schedule

Workshops and materials are provided free of charge and are made possible, in part, through funding provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. All workshops are held on Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM. The instructor is Karen Terry. Registration is required.

Planning Commission

The South Hill Planning Commission will meet on Monday, May 6 at 7 PM in the Council Chambers of the South Hill Town Hall. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Code Compliance Official's Office at 434/447-5041.


Town Council Regular Meeting

The South Hill Town Council will meet on Monday, May 13 at 7 PM in the Council Chambers of the South Hill Town Hall. The suggested agenda will be released closer to the meeting date.

If you wish to request an opportunity to speak under Citizens to Address Council or if you have comments you want the Council to consider, please submit your request in writing to Anna Cratch, Town Clerk at acratch@southhillva.org by noon on Wednesday, May 8 to be included on the agenda. Please provide your first and last name, group represented (if applicable), physical and email address, phone number, and comments or topic of discussion.

Up until approximately 6:50 PM on the night of the meeting, agenda copies and sign up sheets for Citizens to Address Council will be available on a table by the front door to the Council Chambers. If a speaker has materials for Council to consider, 12 copies should be provided to the Town Clerk prior to the meeting for distribution to Council members and staff. Speakers are asked to use the aisle microphone. Comments are limited to three minutes for individuals, five minutes if on behalf of a group. Rules of decorum should be observed.

    The resident Beatles Show Band for “Legends in Concert,” the world’s premier and longest-running tribute show, Yesterday performs in Las Vegas, Nevada and Branson, Missouri. 

    Performing the Beatles since 2001, Yesterday-A Tribute to The Beatles founded by Don Bellezzo, tours not only in the U.S. but Internationally. With seven tours of Japan, and dozens more to Canada, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Bahamas, and United States military bases throughout the world, these entertainers have performed on five continents. Yesterday is Endorsed by Sir Paul McCartney himself.
     
    Yesterday has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Showbiz Magazine, on NBC, CBS, and ABC, Dick Clark’s “Your Big Break” Ed McMahon’s “Star Search” and recently returned as highlight of the annual Joe Johnson’s Beatles Cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise lines.     JaVonne Jones is an anointed electric violinist hailing from the city of Augusta, Georgia. She began her venture as a musician at the age of 9. Now at the age of 40, she is continuously advancing in her gifting. JaVonne has studied the realm of instrumental music for several years; obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education as well as a Master of Education degree in Music Education.

    As a music specialist for over a decade, JaVonne Jones has received numerous homages for her service in the area of music education. JoVonne has been favored with opportunities to open for several entertainment and gospel giants including Rickey Smiley, Tamela Mann, and Dottie Peoples.
