Business Growth & Expansion

So Profitable

Hello, and welcome to the town that really can make a difference in your business success!

Brentley Morris, Town of South Hill Business Development ManagerWe all know what makes any home, parcel of land, town, or city attractive:  location, location, and location!

Strategically located at the intersection of Highway 1, Highway 58, and Interstate 85, South Hill is a centralized crossroads of the east coast. What makes that important?

We're the halfway point between New York and Florida, Baltimore, MD, and Charlotte, NC, as well as Richmond, VA, and Raleigh, NC.

South Hill is two hours from the deepest harbor in the US, The Port of Virginia, which received 1.21 million containers for fiscal year-to-date 2018. 62% of those containers are shipped via truck, meaning many of them are coming right through South Hill.

We also sit directly between two beautiful lakes that draw tourists from near and far. In essence, this means a significant amount of traffic comes to, or through, our town.

Recruitment of talent is a major concern when doing business in rural communities. Having the right people makes the difference, and we are very fortunate to have existing talent for our workforce. Southside Virginia Community College tailors programs to our community’s business needs through specialty degrees and certifications.

In addition to what we already have, we have the ability to recruit talent from two markets an hour north and south of us.

South Hill is a great community to do business in, and we want you to join us!

Contact me and let's talk about how we can help your business reach its goals.

Testimonials

  • South Hill’s location in the heart of lake country, right off I-85 and centered between Raleigh and Richmond, makes it an excellent place to stop in, live, and work! As a resident, I strive to do business locally, but when that is not an option it is nice to be able to drive an hour north or south to get it.
    Beth Cook Owner,
    EXIT Town and Lake Realty
  • Yall. I am OVERWHELMED with the support we have received from this town since the day we first mentioned moving back here. From other businesses, the people, and the entire community I'm holding a check from the South Hill Revitalization Committee to use for our open house! Not to mention the grant to help with costs of our amazing awning too! South Hill may be a small town but the love is big. Real big yall. This girl is feelin it.
    Jordan Klein Sass & Sawdust
  • South Hill offers wonderful benefits including helpful neighbors and business partners, a clean environment, an easy commute with reasonable traffic levels, affordable housing and a low cost of living. A huge advantage is its location — just minutes from I-85 and a straight shot to the Port of Virginia. One true highlight of our community is how it is very supportive of business!
    Michelle Whitlow Plant Manager,
    BGF Industries
  • South Hill is a great place to do business because it is a close knit community that supports one another. Its greatest advantage is having a support system to lend you a helping hand when you need it, and working together to make our community and local economy thrive. Our location is great! We are close to everything but still have that hometown feel.
